Theft prevention tips during spring break

Wednesday, March 21st, 2018

With spring break almost here, here are some safety tips before you leave, compliments of Security Services:

  1. Take your bike home now to lessen the load going home in April
  2. If you aren’t taking your bike home, please put it in your dorm room or apartment to avoid tempting potential thieves while you are gone.
  3. Stop your mail and newspaper if you are living off-campus, or have a friend pick them up and put away your trash bins.
  4. Leave lights on timers in your off-campus residence, and consider leaving talk radio playing.
  5. Lock up all valuables and don’t leave them in sight of a window!
  6. If you are leaving your car here on campus, park it by a parking lot overhead light in your assigned lot and take ALL your belongings out and LOCK IT!
  7. Don’t forget your ID card, room key, and desired belongings, as dorms will be locked at noon on Saturday until Easter Sunday afternoon.
  8. Have fun and stay safe!
