Applications still open for Bridge Scholars program

The Office of Spiritual and Intercultural Life is excited to announce the launch of the pilot Bridge Scholars program, designed to prepare first-generation students for a successful transition from high school to college and establish a strong foundation for college success.

In order to be eligible for the program, students must be a first-generation student and have demonstrated financial need. A first-generation student is defined as being the first in their family to attend a four-year university, and neither parent has a bachelor’s degree.

Aspects of the Bridge Scholars program include the following:

  • A two-week, on-campus summer program July 21- Aug. 4, 2017
  • Peer mentorship
  • Cohort-style classroom experience utilizing LIBA 100

The program is the result of eight months of research and development made possible by the Innovation Grant.

If you know of any entering freshmen who might meet the eligibility requirements, please recommend them to apply to the program or refer them to our office. Applications are due May 15, and space is limited to 20 students.
