If these questions intrigue you, come join us for a short film, To Whom Is Given: Business for the Common Good, in which academic experts and everyday Christians share their stories about how they glorify God through their work. We’ll screen the film from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 10, in Hoover 105.

Come enjoy this screening, followed by a discussion led by Nate Peach! Chapel credit is available, and there will be free food!

The first will be at 4 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium, a short 30-minute service for the entire community which will include the disposition of ashes (chapel credit is NOT offered for this). Then, at 7 p.m. we will have a one-hour service including more worship in addition to the disposition of ashes (chapel credit IS offered).

February is Black History Month, and the Black Student Union has partnered with Bon Appetit to celebrate! The Bon will feature dishes inspired by different Black cultures every Tuesday during dinner for the month of February.

Tomorrow, we’ll feature an African-American cookout menu! This is also the last chance to enter a raffle to win prizes! Winners will be chosen at the end of the month.

Our group from JOUR 310 (Professional Writing) class is doing a survey. We want to know your thoughts on having a series of book exchange stations around campus.

What is a book exchange station?
A book exchange station is an outdoor cabinet that holds donated books. You can swap a book that you don’t want anymore with a new book from the station. People can trade books with each other within the George Fox community.

Why have book exchange stations?
Having book exchange stations set up all over campus will bring more interaction and entertainment in the student community. Book exchange stations are a great way for students to meet new people, share stories that they like, and have a new book to read when not studying.

All are invited to the 2017 Spring Faculty Lecture on Tuesday, March 7, featuring Craig Johnson, professor emeritus of leadership studies and recipient of the 2015-16 Faculty Achievement Award for Graduate Research & Scholarship.

Craig’s lecture, “A Walk on the Shadow Side of Leadership,” will begin at 6 p.m. in Hoover 105. Following is a synopsis:

“We will focus on the power leaders have to cast light or shadow over followers. They must take special care, ‘lest the act of leadership create more harm than good.’ Refusing to face the dark side of leadership makes abuse more likely. Exploring the destructive dimension of leadership highlights the ethical challenges facing leaders and equips us to illumine rather than darken the lives of others.”

Come early and enjoy the 2017 Spring Richter Student Scholars Symposium! It is scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Hoover lobby. George Fox student scholars, from both undergraduate and graduate programs, will present their research in a conversational poster format.

Join us for a Liberal Arts and Critical Issues presentation tonight (Monday), when Aida Ramos, assistant professor of sociology at George Fox, presents “El Sueño” in Hoover 105. The same presentation will be made from 5 to 6 p.m. and from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Ramos will describe how the American Dream plays out for her family, including her immigrant relatives, connecting their experience to sociological evidence revealing a larger picture of the promise of the Dream and its limitations for Latinos.
