Christianity in Syria discussed at honors lecture Oct. 30

Christian SahnerChristian C. Sahner, author of Among the Ruins: Syria Past and Present (Oxford University Press, 2014), will speak on campus at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in Hoover 103. The campus community is invited to attend at no charge.

Sahner’s lecture, “The End of Christianity in Syria?,” will explore the roots of Christianity in Syria and seek to place the current predicament in historical perspective. The William Penn Honors Program is sponsoring this lecture, and a reception for prospective students interested in the honors program will follow. In addition, a special “Visit Day for the Honors Program” is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 31. Please email honors@georgefox.edu if you would like more information or have any questions.

A graduate of Princeton University and the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar, Sahner is currently completing his doctorate at Princeton, focusing on relations between Muslims and Christians in the formative period after the Arab conquests.
