Artist Makoto Fujimura speaks on Newberg campus today, Saturday

The university community is invited to hear from Makoto Fujimura, an internationally renowned artist, twice this week.

Today (Wednesday), Fujimura will speak in the 10:40 a.m. chapel service in Bauman Auditorium. Then, this Saturday, April 12, he will be in Bauman again for a 7:30 p.m. presentation, “A Conversation with Makoto Fujimura on Faith, Art and Culture.” The session will include a showing of the artist’s new documentary film, Golden Sea, and a discussion session with him about the arts. There is no charge to attend.

Prior to Saturday’s campus visit, a 5 p.m. pre-event opening is scheduled at the Chehalem Cultural Center, where Fujimura’s work is now on display in the center’s Parrish Gallery. The Chehalem Cultural Center is located at 415 E. Sheridan St., in Newberg.
