Entrepreneurship class seeks donations for Newberg F.I.S.H.

Thursday, February 27th, 2014

After the holidays, the amount of giving to charitable causes declines while the needs of the people still remain high. Team V.C.R in the Entrepreneurship 300 class wants to help those in need in the Newberg area by collecting donations for the organization Newberg F.I.S.H.

This local food pantry has been proudly supporting the Newberg area for more than 40 years! Most of their food supplies come from local businesses, churches, schools and ordinary people. We are asking both students and staff members for packaged and preserved food donations such as canned foods, rice, beans, etc.

If you would like to donate, please email kampmannc13@georgefox.edu and we will arrange a time to pick up your donation on campus sometime this weekend. We will only be collecting donations until Tuesday, March 4, so if you would like to donate please let us know as soon as possible.

It is hard to make a difference by ourselves, but united we can truly make a positive impact for those struggling in our Newberg community!

‘Rise of the Nones’ is topic of Monday’s LACI lecture

Wednesday, February 26th, 2014

All are invited to join us for the Liberal Arts and Critical Issues lecture this Monday, March 3, as David Gutterman, associate professor of politics at Willamette University, speaks from 7 to 8 p.m. in Hoover 105. The presentation ties into our theme “State of the World.”

Gutterman will speak on the topic “Believe it or Not: The Rise of the Nones and the Future of Religion in the United States.” During the last 20 years there has been a dramatic rise in the percentage of religiously unaffiliated citizens in the U.S. In this lecture, Gutterman will discuss who the “nones” are, what they believe, and what the rise of the “nones” suggests about the future of religion and politics in this country.

The same session is presented from 4:40 to 5:40 p.m.; however, it is recommended that the general public attend the evening session, if possible.

Questions? Contact Paul Otto at ext. 2676 or potto@georgefox.edu.
