Photo & Video from the Choir’s Trip to New York to Sing at 9/11 Memorial

Last weekend the George Fox University Concert Choir traveled to New York City to sing at “A Concert of Commemoration,” a memorial event commemorating the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The choir received an invitation to participate after event organizers saw a video of the choir singing Kyrie, a portion of Rene Clausen’s Memorial, on YouTube. While photography or video wasn’t allowed at the concert, which took place Sunday at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts’ Avery Fisher Hall, we were able to capture a few of the sights and sounds from the weekend.

Serve Day Photos & Video

Nearly 1700 students and staff provided about 10,000 hours of volunteer service Sept. 7 at the university’s annual Serve Day. This year’s theme, “Be Known by Love,” was based on John 13:34-35: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Here are a few photos of that love in action.

Team leader Clint Baldwin and the women of Coffin 3 West spent their Serve Day at Medical Teams International. While there, they had the opportunity to explore the Real Life Exhibit. Sophomore Meghan Timmons talks about the powerful impact of her experience.
